John 2 Jesus attending a wedding that was running out of wine.
His mother asks Him for help. Then He takes water pots and has them filled with water and then He performs his first miracle.
Jesus wants to do that for us, take something that is not too valuable and turn it into something extremely valuable.
John 2:1 On the third day. His ministry begins.
First wedding took place between Adam and Eve. He stands behind the marriage with a warranty, like something that you buy.
John 2:2 invitation to attend the wedding.
2:3 when the wine ran out. Mary came to Jesus. We can come to Jesus when we need help..
2:4 Woman why do you involve me?
2:4 He purposely called her woman.
Maryology movement.
2:5-7 Wine pots, 20 to 30 gallons they would hold. First miracle was turning water into wine.
2:7-8 Filled the jars. Human work to do their part.
Jesus does the work of the vine, to produce the wine. It was the pure juice of the grapes--unfermented (Desire of Ages, page 149)
Pleasures of sin for a short time. Only Jesus can give us lasting joy.
Example of the prodigal son.
Symbol of His blood, covering our sins. Are we willing to be filled with His eternal water which will never run out?
